Enabling Ligatures: Microsoft Word for Windows, Microsoft Word 2010 and 2013
- Launch your copy of Word
- Open the Font dialogue box by pressing ‘Ctrl+D’
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Set the menu next to Ligatures to “All”
- Under OpenType Features (above the preview at the bottom), check the box “Use contextual alternatives”
- Click “Set As Default”, check the box “All documents based on the Normal.dotm template?” then click OK

Converting older format Word documents
